JeniseCook.com Newsletter Update June 4, 2020

In-between Newsletters Update

Dear Friends/Subscribers:

Thank you for subscribing to my site and my newsletter this past year. I appreciate your support and encouragement. Let me “cut to the chase”. I published my first (and only, as of today) Newsletter on June 1, 2019. I’m laughing as I type out that date. A year and three days later, I’m communicating to my early subscribers, and welcoming my newest subscribers.

Hello, Everyone!

Why haven’t I published a newsletter since last year? Life happened. I needed to tend to other priorities. However, I kept on writing. Visit my “Publications” page to see what I’ve been up to since last year:

The good news in 2020 is I’m now able to add my creative activities and you friends to my priorities list. So, what’s happened since Newsletter No. 1 last year?

Newsletter No. 1

Chicken Soup for the Soul Submission

They did not accept my story. The editors may have decided some characters were “controversial”, according to authors who have published with CSS. I’ll try again in the future with new stories.

Medium

I’ve published many stories and haiku poems! I’m a regular contributor of 50-word micro fiction stories to The Friday Fix. (Publisher Justin Deming subscribes to my Newsletter; thank you, Justin!) Visit my Medium profile page to see my list of published works:

Note: I’m no longer on the Medium platform as of 2020 August 31.

Lost Pen Magazine (LPM)

For the inaugural issue, I submitted a poem accompanied by one of my photographs. Published! The founder and editor-in-chief, Dyane Forde of Focus Writing Services, and I have become fast friends. She lives in Quebec province, and she’s had me copyedit and proofread the first two issues. I’m officially a volunteer copyeditor for this free online journal. We’re working on Issue No. 3 this summer to meet the September publish date. Visit these links to read the first two issues and learn more about LMP:

Update: Observed 7 December 2022, the journal is now archived here.

Update: Effective 20 October 2020, I am on a sabbatical from the team as Copy -editor, to dedicate time to my husband’s and my projects. I still love and support Dyane and Lost Pen Magazine.

Plans and Goals

I write my plans and goals in pencil these days with an eraser nearby. A flexible attitude keeps me optimistic. The virus lockdown postponed a few plans. Others I’m able to accomplish by working from home.

I’m excited about:

    • Pushing my writing “chops” beyond Medium and submitting to journals new to me.
    • Establishing and growing my writing/editing/proofreading services to future clients.
    • Creating greeting cards (I have one available with plans for more – visit: https://jenisecook.com/store/greeting-cards-for-sale/ ).
    • Redesigning my WordPress website.

If you’ll need these writing or editing services, contact me for details, and tell your friends and frenemies about my services.
