The Story Behind the Verse

I’m on Twitter almost every day, as are many in the writing community (#writingcommunity) – writers, authors, agents, editors, literary journals, and publishers. Twitter also allows me to track goings-on in my state, and @ArizonaDOT (Arizona Department of Transportation’s Twitter account) does an effective job in keeping residents aware of transportation issues.

I eagerly awaited snow storms to reach our area, which is slightly over an hour’s drive south of Flagstaff. The night before our storm, I saw ADOT’s highway photos of Interstate 40 (I-40) as the snow plows cleared the road beds.

The white stuff in the photos made me so happy, this little haiku rose up, expressing my joy and gratitude.
