Lament: Bushfires Down Under

image of terrible bush fire for haiku verse by author jenisecook.com

Dragon, breathing fire
in every wind-driven blast
burning up my soul.

You, who hell unleashed
in fiery embers flaming,
torching all I love.

Heat, sucking out life
from creatures great and small as
they struggle for air.

Rain, come we beg you
and ease our sorrow, changing
tears into rain drops.
