The Story Behind the Verse

One of the old, rusty main pipes in our neighborhood broke due to the freezing temperatures. When I looked out my window early one morning, I saw some water flowing down a gutter, water that was crusted over with ice.

Ice? What was the temperature? I opened my weather app and saw that it was 16 degrees Fahrenheit outside. I was surprised by both the ice and water in our streets and by the below 20 temperature. Brrr!
