The Story Behind the Verse

No matter what country, the citizens tend to long for liberty, for freedom.

Due to my parents’ ages, I grew up with stories of World War II. The attack on Pearl Harbor terrified them and the country, and altered many lives.

Seventy-nine years have passed, and this haiku memorializes all those who died on that day.

May wars come to an end.
