Tim’s New Toys

I sit in our attic, listening to my parents below.

“Can’t believe he’s 13 years old.”

“He needs to put away childish things.”

As I stare out the window at the moon, I think about their words.
I say good-bye to my toys.

Tomorrow, I join the Young Astronauts Program.

The Story Behind this Story

A young boy’s day dreams come true. For this story, the week’s prompt came from a song titled “Toys in the Attic.” When I searched Pixabay for an image to go with my story, I was blown away by what I found.

I wonder what worlds Tim will explore when he’s an adult! His “toys” will be more sophisticated than those he’ll leave behind in his parents’ attic.

Your Turn

Have you stared out of an attic window, or any window, at the stars and let your imagination roam across the galaxies?
