Hot August Nights
June in north-central Arizona was atypically hot, Hot, HOT! The landscape grew so dry it was scary. At one point, I think there were over 40 wildfires burning in the state.
July brought much-needed monsoon rain storms, and our hillsides and prairies are lush and green… for awhile. As I gaze out over the emerald lands, I imagine we’re in Ireland.
The rains also brought much cooler temperatures, and I’ve used the good weather to focus on some projects (“honey do’s”). As a result, I didn’t write and submit much, but I do have some creative news to share:
-
- New publications (in journals and self published)
- Update on my haiku anthology project
New Publications
For this update, I’ve divided my new published works into two sections: Journals and Self Published.

So, What’s with My Book Project?
Yes, my future book of haiku verses, “Changing of the Seasons”… this anthology project is on temporary hold. Why? I’ve researched publishing until my head was swimming, and I need to make some decisions.
First, I don’t want to just “push the button” and put this book out on Amazon Kindle with Amazon’s proprietary ISBN number [wiki]. After a discussion with the members of my online writing community (Scribophile), I had a helpful list of the pros and cons for that process, and I didn’t like my options with Amazon Kindle and its proprietary ISBN.
Second, if I go ahead with a Print on Demand (POD) publishing process for a paperback version, I’ll need to choose wisely. Again, I’m doing careful research on this as well.
Stay tuned…
