Happy New Year 2018!

About New Years Resolutions
Many years ago, I stopped making New Years resolutions. It was fun to create a list when I was younger. Age is not the reason why I discontinued listing resolutions to keep in the new year. Life is the reason. “We make plans and God laughs.” Or, as Scottish poet Robert Burns lamented: “The best laid schemes o’ Mice an’ Men, / Gang aft agley.” (often go awry).
However, I love dreaming, scheming, and making lists. If I get to accomplish an item and mark it “100%” or “Completed”, I do the Snoopy Happy Dance (video). If not, no worries. I consider what happened around that item (illness, other tasks, change in plans, etc.), and I make adjustments.
When I woke up the day after Christmas 2017, I knew what my focus will be for 2018: Tie up loose ends, complete pending projects, and keep life simple. I’ll make very few new plans for 2018. With gratitude I can say that my plate of plans is full. Here’s a brief list:
Writing
-
- I’ll continue my membership with Scribophile, uploading new works, critiquing other’s pieces, and learning from the members.
- I’ll participate in NaNoWriMo Camps in April and in July (as life allows).
- I’ll work on my craft daily.
Photography
-
- I’ll support my husband’s Commercial Photography Services business as his photo assistant.
- I’ll continue to study the craft of photography via videos online.
- I’ll go through my huge library of images and upload them to online sites (once and for all, “git ‘er dun!”.)
Creative/Maker Stuff
Once the major projects for Writing and Photography are pretty much done, I’ll begin to work on the Maker side of my creative self. I have ideas for stitchery and leather tooling that I’m writing down so I don’t forget them.
