No long-stemmed roses.
No box of dark chocolate.
No one’s Valentine.

The Story Behind this Haiku
The other day, I was cleaning up an old Twitter account that I don’t use (currently locked and set to Private), and I found a haiku verse that had slipped from my memory.
I wrote this haiku verse for others, for those who feel sad on Valentine’s Day, for those who feel alone.
One year, a boyfriend broke up with me the week before Valentine’s Day. What did I do that Valentine’s Day? When I woke up that morning, it seemed that God had an idea that I followed. I went to the florist at the grocery store before work and bought the loveliest bouquet of flowers I could find. At work, I put them on my desk.
My coworkers asked me who the flowers were from.
“Jesus,” I replied.
He never breaks up with those He loves.
