A crow shrieks in flight
dusk descends on the desert
a scorpion strikes

The Story Behind this Haiku
This is another haiku verse I wrote from participating in the Haiku Challenge thread in my online writers community Scribophile.com.
To learn more about the Haiku Challenge, read: Sunset Caresses on my website.
I loved the last line of the haiku verse in the thread:
“A crow shrieks in flight”.
Where I live in the north-central highlands of Arizona (where it snows), ravens are everywhere. People new to our area call them crows, but that’s an insult 😂. They are ravens, proud ravens. But, I had to abide by the rules of the challenge, so crow it is.
A black bird in the dusk light of the Arizona desert needed company, so why not a scorpion? And yes, I realize this haiku verse is open ended. I love open-ended stories.
