Cancel culture canceled his job, his fiancée, his condo lease over an online comment he wrote fifteen years ago that he forgot about and regrets as an adult.
Silenced, he found his voice, again, writing fiction from his van down by the river, living the nomad life on public lands.

The Story Behind this Story
“Cancel culture” accelerated in the past year-and-a-half. As a lover of books, and a writer and author, I have discussed censorship from my early childhood years with my elders, up to and through my Master of Arts degree in literature with my tenured professors.
I don’t believe in censorship, even of books and content that go against my beliefs. I believe in reasoned dialog. That’s how we learn from each other and grow.
So, in the midst of the current “cancel culture”, I wondered how would someone rebound after being canceled? Could they?
This story is about one choice, one avenue that many are traveling in real life.

I agree with you 100 %. Tired of CC. We need to stop all of this censorship too. Forgiveness must come to the forefront.
Glad to see you here, Marcus, and thanks for your Comment. I hope polite and reasoned discussions return soon.
I think all of us who have lived a long life are only one forgotten & regretted mistake away from being canceled. Got me in the feels Jenise…and frightens me too.
I hear you, Halle, and thanks for leaving a Comment. 🙂 Thank you for being a supportive fan!
Jenise,
Your 50-word story is very interesting, thought provoking, it’s ‘take seat back to silently view the world and small details around our own surroundings, and, then the surroundings of others. We each have our own 50-word story. Well done.
Hi, Fritz!
Thanks for leaving a Comment; much appreciated. You’ve said it well: “We each have our own 50-word story.” So true.
