Marty resolved to write a fifty-word story and submit it before the Friday morning deadline. But, his fingers faltered on the keyboard, staggering like drunken sailors. His vision, blurred by eight hours staring at his work computer, failed to focus on his fiction. Nevertheless, Marty wrote and he pressed Submit.

The Story Behind the Story
The deadline to submit this story to The Friday Fix almost passed me by. The work week kept me focused on projects with no time to draft creative pieces. Thursday evening, around 10 PM, panic descended over me. Would publisher Justin Deming accept my story, submitted very late? Obviously, he did, but what did I scramble and pull together into a tiny story? Did the words come together coherently?
After Justin published my story, the responses encouraged me. I wasn’t alone. Others wrote that they had experienced the same panic. Plus, they enjoyed the 50 words that came to me at the last minute. I think you will enjoy them, too.
If you do, please let me know in the Comments.
Note: When you write a comment, I’ll respond. To view my response, make sure you get notified via email by selecting the checkbox for “Notify me via e-mail if anyone answers my comment.”
Thank you for reading. Come along on my adventures.
